The Arabian Horse or Arab
Arabian horses (or Arabs) are horses which originate from the Arabian Peninsula for over 2000 years.
These horses were properly bred to demonstrate many traits which were attractive, such as strength, beauty, and endurance. Horse experts have researched Arabian horse origins and concluded that they are one of the most ancient breeds to exist.
The nomadic Bedouins were first given credit for taming Arabs. Of the horses they aquired the Bedouins could account for their lineage and ancestry. During this time, it was critical to have a horse which was strong, fast, and courageous. It also had to be able to inhabit the desert environment. The Bedouin tribes were constantly at war with other tribes in the region, and it was necessary to have a horse which could lead them into battle.
The Bedouins soon acheived status for breeding some of the most beautiful arab horses ever seen. People would frequently meet to exchange the ancestry of their horses prior to being traded. There are numerous strains of Arab horses. These horses have a common ancestor and look. Including; Kuhaylan, Dahman and Hadban.
Arabian horses are said to be one of, if not the most recognised breeds in the world. Large expressive eyes and a comparatively small muzzle can be found on a wedge shaped head. Possibly the most prized Arabs are the ones with concave noses. An Arabian horse should have an arched neckline, with lean muscular legs. Arabian horses have a silk-like coat which shines in the sun. Due to the fact that they do not have a fair arc(bascule)Arabian horses are not often observed at showing jumping contests.
Most Arabian horses have a coat which is grey or brown, and some horses also have black coats. Arabs with black coats were at one point a rarity as it was thought their dark coats would absorb the heat, making it dangerous for both rider and horse. Because the Arabian horse is so genetically pure, it is commonly used in enhancing the characteristics of other breeds of horses. Arabs are known for their relaxed temperament, making breeding them very attractive.
Arabian horses have been used in professional horse competitions for a long time, and Arabian horse games are being held every year in which the horses and their owners can compete with each other.
